On Innovation. On Wisconsin.

Discovery to Product (D2P): Meet Our Badger Innovators

While a PhD student at UW–Madison, Kevin Barnett realized his desire to change the world was taking shape right in front of him as he researched corn-based alternatives to petroleum-based chemicals used in paints and plastics. With assistance from Discovery to Product (D2P), and other campus resources, Barnett and co-founder George Huber launched Pyran. In its third year, the startup is already contributing to a more sustainable future, one cob at a time.

D2P is proud to work with Barnett and the Pyran team. we are committed to helping other Badger leaders develop the products, technologies and social innovations that bring the Wisconsin Idea to life–whether they’re working in a dorm room or lab.

Forward Thinking.

Administered by UW-Madison’s Discovery to Product (D2P), the Innovate Network is UW–Madison’s front door for innovators to find resources designed to help them bring their ideas to the marketplace.

The Network serves as a hub for a collaborative group of campus-based and campus-affiliated member organizations that work to achieve two common goals:

  • Fostering a strong culture of innovation and entrepreneurship at UW-Madison
  • Strengthening the connection between campus and the entrepreneurial network in the Greater Madison community
