The Center for Technology Commercialization offers a program for faculty, post-docs and early career scientists that are new to the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant program. Now accepting letters of interest, SBIR Ready is an immersive program designed to support an individualized, self-directed career path for early-career scientists. Using applied business development activities and SBIR/STTR grant writing skills, this short course will teach you invaluable skills needed to be successful in vetting new technologies and accessing funding through this $2.5 billion non-dilutive federal program. This program is for innovators or researchers with or without their own technologies.
The free four-week course helps innovators evaluate their tech project from multiple angles to make a business case, extract specific aims with market research, gap analysis and best practices examples, craft a budget and compile resources, and get a walk-through of the SBIR application process. The SBIR Ready course begins June 4th and is being held in Madison, Milwaukee, and one UW System campus TBD (based on interest). Teams can access up to $3,000 toward their idea.
